In 2026, Historic Route 66 marked 100 years of connecting people, communities and cultures across America. To commemorate the milestone, Route 66 Casino Hotel dedicated a permanent Centennial Monument honoring the legacy of the Mother Road and its enduring relationship with the Laguna community.

For generations, Route 66 has served as a corridor of travel, commerce, culture and opportunity. Its path helped shape communities throughout the country—including the communities of Laguna—while connecting travelers from Chicago to Santa Monica.
The Route 66 Centennial Monument recognizes that shared history and the people whose lives, work and stories have become part of the highway’s legacy.

Part of a Nationwide Centennial Tribute
The Route 66 Casino Hotel monument is part of a nationwide initiative commemorating Route 66 communities along the historic highway. Each installation reflects the local history and culture that helped shape one of America’s most iconic roads.
At Route 66 Casino Hotel, the monument honors the longstanding connection between Route 66 and the Laguna community—and celebrates the people and stories that will carry its legacy into the next century.

Guests are invited to view the Route 66 Centennial Monument at Route 66 Casino Hotel and commemorate 100 years of America’s Mother Road.
Preserving Today for Future Generations
The monument was dedicated on July 31, 2026, as part of Route 66’s Centennial celebration. During the dedication ceremony, community leaders, special guests and Centennial honorees participated in the ceremonial sealing of a time capsule containing stories, artifacts and memories from today.
Together, the monument and time capsule preserve this moment in Route 66 history as a lasting tribute for future generations.
